Hutton under 15s...
I took over the responsibility of coaching this team at the start of last season, 2008/2009.
My first training session was an eye opener, with just 5 weeks before the first game of the season, I had 6 players turn up. We gradually added more players as the month went past and, eventually, we had enough to start our first game. This was a team that had finished 1 point off second the previous season. We knew that we had a massive mountain to climb.
As the games went by we saw defeat after defeat, not by a lot, the odd goal in 1 or sometimes 5, but at no point did the players on the pitch give any less than 100%. It took until March and 12 games into the season before we picked up our first point. We celebrated it like we had won the world cup. Whilst this was going on we had come to within 30 seconds of reaching the league cup final. We ended the season with another draw and 2 league wins, but alas, we were relegated.
All the players who finished last season have re-signed for us and we have added a few too. We are not hoping to get promoted, or win the cup, but just to try and play good disciplined, passing football. We have the players to do it. They just need the time and support to succeed. We will have more even games with varied results this upcoming season. but the boys should enjoy it more.
Here's to the next season.
