Child welfare

We now have TWO Child Welfare Officers!

Hutton Junior Football Club is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for children and young people to practice football.

We aim to do this by:

  • Recognising that all children have the right to freedom from abuse.

  • Ensuring that all our volunteers are carefully selected and accept responsibility for helping to prevent the abuse of children whilst in their care.

  • Responding swiftly and appropriately to all suspicions or allegations of abuse and providing parents and children with the opportunity to voice any concerns they may have.

  • Appointing a Child Welfare Officer who will take specific responsibility for child safety and act as the main point of contact for parents, children and outside agencies.

  • Ensuring access to confidential information is restricted to the Child Welfare Officer or the appropriate external authorities.

  • Keeping up to date with the changes in FA Child Welfare Policy and reviewing the effectiveness of our Child Welfare Policy and activities each year.

To recognise the changing face of football in England, and the increasing number of girls who are accessing the sport, Hutton Football Club have recently appointed a new Welfare Officer to work alongside Nick O’Connell, Welfare Officer for the last several years.

My name is Janine Tucker-Hodge and I have been involved in Grassroots football for 6 years.

In 2019 I completed my FA Level 1 football coaching for Hutton Football Club and now I am happy to say I will be taking on the role of Welfare Officer alongside Nick.

At present I work for the NHS in the ambulance service, as an Emergency Care Assistant. I know how vital safeguarding is and deal with incidents on a regular basis.

I have 3 boys who all love football and play for Hutton.

As a parent myself, I know how important it is to create a fun and safe environment within Grassroots football and I feel this is central to safeguarding children. I look forward to meeting you all soon and will introduce myself at training sessions when the Club move to Hans Price for our Winter training.
